Pre-school have had another busy week this week. We made white playdough and put glitter in it to make it sparkle. We then pretended that it was snow. We made ice and put polar bears and penguins in the ice to continue our cold weather theme.Later in the week we bathed dolls. That was lots of fun! One of our favorite stories is Hurrah for fish. We decorated fish with stripes and spots for our bathroom wall. We also had fun in the soft play
Hello everyone! it’ amazing how time flies when you are having fun. It is February already and we are taking names for children to start after Easter and in September. Please share this information with any families who have children who are almost two.
This week we have continued to enjoy the story of The Three Little Pigs. We had lots of fun playing with straw and sticks and feeling the different textures. Our pig faces are amazing. We thought carefully about the materials we wanted to use for ears, eyes, nose and mouths. In the sunshine we planted some primulas to make our outdoor area look pretty. We remembered to water them as they were very thirsty. We also had lots of fun play on our water wall in the outdoor area. Today we baked some cakes and we are going to decorate them tomorrow. Look out for next weeks installment and see how we decorate them. Can you guess?
We have had another busy and exciting week in Pre-school.
We have started reading our new book which is called “The Three Little Pigs”. To help us understand the story we have made the three little pigs houses and have started making pig faces! We visited nursery and they retold us the story. It was very exciting to visit the nursery class.
At the beginning of the week we made sandwiches. We could choose whether we wanted jam, honey or just butter. We had to be very careful when we used the knives. Our sandwiches tasted delicious.
This week we have been enjoying the milder weather and have had lots of fun in our outdoor area. We have even planted some snowdrops and daffodils!
We filled empty washing up liquid bottles with water and squirted the water on the ground. We then mixed powder paint in the water with sticks to make different colours and patterns.
Dancing to music on the cd player was great fun and we particularly enjoyed the Hokey Cokey!
This week we have been continuing to read Goldilocks and the three bears. We went to the school library and found some bear stories which we put in baby bear’s bedroom. We have also found pictures of polar bears and panda bears.
Some birds came to feed from the bird feeders that we made last week and put outdoors so we made some more.
We worked together to join the play panels to make simple enclosures around ourselves and to balance on.
Today was best of all though as we had a sensory tray containing lots of different materials such as porridge oats, water beads, pasta and bird seed. Later we painted some stones. These are going to decorate our garden and make it colourful.
Pre-school have been very busy this week. As usual we have been reading lots of stories but our favourites have been Goldilocks and the Three Bears and Cock a moo moo! To help us understand these stories we have been playing with the farm animals and made porridge. Using different collage materials we made Daddy, Mammy and Baby bear.We have also been thinking about birds in winter. We went to the school library and found books about different kinds of birds. We then made bird feeders using lard and bird food which we hung from the trees. Now we are just waiting for the birds to come! John Treherne, from Newcastle University, visited us bringing lots of his students. We joined with the Nursery class and saw lots of different instruments and sang some lovely songs. Back in class we enjoyed singing where are the children with the lycra! We have had an amazing week and look forward to having lots more fun next week!
Happy New Year everyone! We hope that you have had an amazing Christmas enjoying time with friends and family.
We are welcoming new starters this week and are looking forward to having lots of fun this term.
Today we have played both indoors and out, listened to lots of stories and enjoyed being together once more.
There are still some places available to start now and we are also taking names for April and September intakes. Come and meet the staff and pop in for a look around!
We are getting very excited for Santa Claus coming. He did come and visit us at our party and gave us a present! His reindeer parked on the roof and we could hear their hooves. We had a lovely party and some of our parents stayed and helped us to make hats, Christmas wreaths and decorate biscuits. We played pass the parcel and had lots of lovely things to eat. Thank you to all the parents who brought lots of delicious food.
We have also been busy listening to stories, doing puzzles and singing lots of songs.
Pre-school closes today for two weeks and we will reopen on Monday 6th January 2020!
The staff hope you all have a lovely Christmas and look forward to seeing you in the New Year!
